This fine art photograph was taken when I went to Santa Monica Beach in Southern California to take some beach photography. I thought it would be a bright beautiful sunny day, but when I got there it was overcast and cloudy. I was disappointed at first, then the sun started to break through the clouds creating these magnificent sun rays across ocean. I was on top of a bluff over looking the beach so I was able to capture the sand, the lifeguard stand and the beautiful sun rays all in one photograph. I love the beach in the winter time, sometimes getting some really beautiful dark stormy clouds and rough seas with big waves crashing on the sand. The photo I took of the calm sun rays breaking through the dark clouds over the ocean was a really nice surprise.
